1. Who we are
The Disrepair Lawyers is a trading name of Liver Law Solicitors Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 07466388) with its registered office at 71 Longview Drive, Huyton, Liverpool, L36 6EB. We are authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA number 559049) and registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (registration number [ICO number]).
Liver Law Solicitors Limited is the data controller for the personal data you give us through www.thedisrepairlawyers.co.uk. That means we decide how and why it is used, and we are responsible for keeping it safe.
2. What we collect
When you use our free claim checker or contact us, we collect:
- Contact details: your name, email address, phone number and how you prefer to be contacted.
- Your home: your address and postcode, the type of property, who your landlord is and your monthly rent.
- Your household: how many adults and children live with you, and whether anyone in the household has a disability.
- The disrepair: the problems you are experiencing, the rooms affected, the evidence you have, how and when you reported it to your landlord, and anything you add in your notes.
- Your result: the Red, Amber or Green rating and the estimated claim value the checker works out from your answers.
Some of this can include information about your health or a disability (for example the effect of damp or mould on someone in your household). This is “special category” data and we treat it with extra care.
We also collect technical information when you visit the site, such as your IP address and browser type, in our hosting provider’s server logs. If you accept analytics cookies, we also collect information about how you use the site (see section 7).
3. Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To assess your claim and contact you about it. You ask us to look at your situation, so we process your data to take steps at your request before entering into a contract with you.
- To bring or defend a legal claim. Where we process health or disability information, we do so because it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
- To run and improve our service, keep records and prevent fraud, which are our legitimate interests.
- To comply with the law and our regulators, including SRA rules, anti-money-laundering checks and keeping proper files.
- Analytics, only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
The claim checker’s rating and estimate are worked out automatically, but they are only an indication. A member of our team reviews every enquiry, and no decision about you is made by a computer alone.
4. Who we share it with
We never sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run this website and handle your enquiry, under contracts that require them to keep it secure and use it only on our instructions:
- HighLevel Inc. (GoHighLevel): the customer relationship system where your enquiry is stored and managed, and, only if you accept cookies, which pages of this site you visited.
- Vercel Inc.: hosts this website.
- Google LLC (Google Analytics): only if you accept analytics cookies. Google receives information about how the site is used, never your name, email address, phone number or home address.
If your claim goes ahead, we may also share relevant information with your landlord or their representatives, surveyors and experts, barristers, the courts, and our insurers and auditors, as needed to run your case.
5. Transfers outside the UK
HighLevel, Vercel and Google are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there. Where this happens we rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, so your data remains protected to UK standards.
6. How long we keep it
- If you do not become a client, we keep your enquiry for [retention period for enquiries], then delete it.
- If you become a client, we keep your file for up to 7 years after your matter ends, as our legal and regulatory obligations require.
7. Cookies and similar technology
Always on (strictly necessary): your browser remembers your language choice and your cookie choice. These stay on your device and are never sent to us or anyone else.
Only if you accept (analytics): Google Analytics sets the cookies _ga and _ga_* for up to 2 years. They tell us how many people visit, which pages they read and how many complete the claim checker, so we can improve the site. We do not use advertising cookies.
Only if you accept (enquiry tracking): HighLevel (GoHighLevel), the system where we manage enquiries, sets its own cookies to record which pages of this site you visit. If you then book a call or send us your details, those page visits are linked to your enquiry, so the person who calls you back can see what you were reading about.
We ask before setting any analytics cookie. You can change your mind at any time: .
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your data, or to restrict how we use it;
- object to us using your data based on our legitimate interests;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it.
Some rights have exceptions, for example where we must keep a file for legal reasons. We will reply within one month and there is normally no charge.
9. How we keep it safe
Your data travels over an encrypted connection and is stored with providers who use industry-standard security. Access is limited to people who need it to handle your enquiry. If a data breach is likely to put you at risk, we will tell you and the Information Commissioner’s Office as the law requires.
